HUNTING METHODS

The Harris's Hawk can be trained to exploit virtually any hunting method.  We train our hawks to a variety of hunting methods in their first season.  In high winds on the open plains, we hunt them off the fist. We use the T-perch for hunting spots that do not have enough natural perches, and before the leaves fall from the trees. When hunting in woods and other situations with natural perches, we have the hawks follow along freely. If there is a ridge with sufficient lift, the hawks hunt by slope-soaring.
